The Sevillaner
The Sevillaner is a colective illustration project paying tribute to the legendary The New Yorker, created by sevillian illustrator Antonio Copete. It features covers made by renowned and emerging artists who are currently living or lived in Seville.
I chose to draw the Alameda de Hércules. If Seville was a town, the Alameda would be that little street where neigbours still sit at night to chit chat… and share a joint. For many more, the Alameda is also a place to have fun, love and live with total freedom. A small neighbourhood which survived a civil war, a few economic meltdowns, a democratic transition and an ongoing gentrification. But it is still our neigbourhood, and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
